Katahdin Woods and Waters National Monument

Designated a National Monument in 2016, Katahdin Woods and Waters is Maine’s newest member in the National Park Service family. CNN named Katahdin Woods and Waters National Monument as one of their 17 best places in the world to visit in 2017.

Situated on 87,000 acres east of Baxter State Park and north of Millinocket Maine, Katahdin Woods and Waters is a great place to hike, mountain bike, ski, fish, or even just take a drive.

Baxter State Park

Home of Katahdin, the highest mountain in Maine and northern terminus of the famedĀ Appalachian Trail, Baxter State Park boasts over 200,000 acres of pristine Maine wilderness.

Donated by Governor Percival Baxter to the people of Maine to be “forever wild”, Baxter State Park is a place like no other, where you can hike, fish, and just enjoy the unspoiled northern woods of Maine.
